CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cuyahoga County Sheriff will no longer allow deputies and corrections officers to work off-duty security jobs at bars. until he can review the current policy.
“As the new Sheriff, I have undertaken the process of an in-depth review of all policies and procedures in the Sheriff’s Department. While I understand how important a secondary income is to the people who work for the Sheriff’s department, the safety of the public and officer safety is of paramount concern,” said Cuyahoga County Sheriff Christopher Viland.

A vigil and balloon release was held Thursday night for Timoteo Tim Cruz at the Justice Center. Cruz, a Cuyahoga County Corrections officer, was one of two victims of a fatal shooting in Parma last weekend
Michael Acierno and Timoteo Tim Cruz both died at the scene during the incident. Cruz, an off-duty Cuyahoga County corrections officer working as a security guard for the bar, apparently risked his own life by firing his own weapon at the suspects after Acierno was shot first.

PARMA, Ohio A pair of suspects, who were arrested following a deadly weekend shooting that claimed the lives of two people at a Parma bar, both appeared before a judge for arraignment in Parma Municipal Court Wednesday morning.
Luis Candelario was the first to appear, facing two charges of complicity to commit aggravated murder. During the brief appearance, Candelario waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The judge said the case will now go before a grand jury for further proceedings with his next court appearance scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23.

PARMA, Ohio Two people are dead following a shooting early Saturday morning at a local bar, and officials have confirmed one of the victims was an off-duty Cuyahoga County corrections officer.
Parma police say they responded to the incident at Rookie Sports Bar & Grill around 2:13 a.m. Witnesses said 29-year-old Sean Michael Acierno was shot in the parking lot before security guard Timoteo Tim Cruz, a CCW holder, returned fire. While Cruz managed to hit the alleged shooter with one of his bullets, he himself was gunned down, and he and Acierno both died at the scene.
