MANILA - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will undertake roadworks on portions in the cities of Quezon, Makati and Pasig starting at 11 p.m. Friday. In an advisory, the DPWH said the road rehabilitation activities will be conducted along Edsa, C-5, and other roads. Along Edsa, the road works will cover southbound directions of Edsa Santolan innermost lane/bus way, from V.V. Soliven Driveway going to Rochester Street in San Juan City. Also, Edsa Service Road, 2nd block of Timog Avenue intersection, 2nd block of Kamuning Road intersection, and 2nd block corner Kamuning Road in Quezon City. Affected lanes on Edsa Quezon City Northbound include 2nd lane from sidewalk/ bus way, fronting Cubao Farmers Market and after Kamuning intermittent section along Aurora Boulevard. Similar road rehabilitation works will also be undertaken on the following areas in Quezon City: Tandang Sora Avenue, from Visayas Avenue to San Miguel Road; Times Street corner West Avenue, fronting Kowloo
EDSA (PNA file photo) MANILA - The average speed of motor vehicles plying the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) has increased since the implementation of the new limited Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP). During President Rodrigo Duterte's Talk to the People on Tuesday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair, Benhur Abalos Jr., said as much as 89 percent increase in average vehicle speed was recorded from the Timog Avenue to Quezon Avenue portion of Edsa from December 1 to 3. "Travel speed has indeed improved in some identified critical areas along Edsa. For instance, from C. Jose (in Pasay) to Ortigas Avenue, from being a congested area during peak hours, it has now become a manageable traffic area. The same is also true in Katipunan (Avenue in Quezon City) to Biglang-Awa (Street in Caloocan)," Abalos said. He said the current UVVRP, commonly called number coding, is limited during peak hours 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. as
