How good of a start is Hofstra’s offense off to?
Well, it connected on 40 percent of its shots in Tuesday’s 18-6 rout of Wagner and its season shooting percentage went down.
The Pride (3-1) is fifth in the country in scoring (17.25 goals per game) and third in shooting percentage (.418), superb early returns for a veteran-laden attack unit that is both new and plenty familiar.
Ryan Tierney, whose name was already scattered throughout Hofstra’s record book, returned for a fifth season. Joining him are a pair of transfers he was plenty familiar with growing up in Nassau County: Alex Concannon and Justin Lynskey. Together, they’ve scored 47 goals and added 18 assists in the Pride’s first four games.
