On Sunday, the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) released information about a potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 for any passengers who were on a flight from Toronto to Timmins Thursday evening.
The flight was Air Canada, flight AC8289, which was scheduled to depart at 6:55 p.m. from Toronto to Timmins.

The advisory is particularly directed to those who were seated in rows 1 to 4.
The passengers in these rows are directed to self-isolate and call their local public health unit.
Other travellers on this flight are directed to self-monitor.

Simultaneous raids on houses on Kirby Ave. and Joseph St. in Timmins Thursday morning netted city police what they call “a significant amount” of methamphetamine.
Communications coordinator Marc Depatie says some of the seven people arrested are from the Toronto area, the rest are local.
“They seem to persist in this type of drug activity,” he remarks. “coming to northern communities form outside the area, plying their illicit trade and profiting at the expense of persons who are confronted with drug addiction challenges.”

An Ontario Provincial Police Explosives Disposal Unit was called to a residence at a mobile home park in Timmins Thursday after to deal with a “suspicious device” that was found by police who were there executing a search warrant on an unrelated matter.
Marc Depatie, spokesman for the Timmins Police Service, said officers who were attending the residence at Sharidan Trailer Park, just off Pine Street South, found a “home-made device” which triggered some concern.

A man, who resides at the residence, was taken into custody.
