but, clint, if this is a situation where it s a misunderstanding, why are we seeing these people walk out, you know, one by one with their hands up? it would seem that you could quickly get 20 people off a bus and remedy this if this is all one big misunderstanding and someone is not on that bus holding these folks at least a few of them still hostage. no. your point is valid. but from the law enforcement perspective, once you respond to a situation like this, you re not sure if there is one, two, three, people. i mean, there could be multiple individuals should it be a real situation with a bomb. the police are not taking any chances. they are going to identify each person as they come off the bus, make sure that person is not a threat, is not involved in this, and get that person aside for their own safety and deal with the next person. so the last thing they want is somebody to get off the bus they have one person left and then someone gets off the bus that s got a gun and turns
media relations person tim stokes has released a very brief statement. he says, it s a police matter. and that s a direct quote and is all he is saying there. clint, what is security like on the buses? we talk so much about the security on the airlines. but what about the buses? well, it s little to none, tamron. that s the case. you and i when we get on a plane, we basically almost go through a strip search. we take off our coats, our bags are searched. if you look at the other means of mass transportation in this country trains, buses, cab, whatever it s going to be, there is just about no search whatsoever that takes place. so those are the venues that we remain vulnerable and those are the areas that are very hard, if you re getting on a bus, to try to put metal detectors in search of your bag there, that s the next level of challenge we may face in this country. clint, to your point about what this situation what s really happening here
criteria under which an american citizen could have their citizenship revoked. serving in a foreign army, taking up arms against the united states, being one of them. we feel like what we re doing is common sense. it just adds one more criteria because they couldn t have envisioned al qaeda and nonstate sponsored terrorist organizations. it simply says if you join one of those organizations, and you take arms against the united states, you qualify to have your citizenship revoked in the same way that it s been available for 70 years in the other criterias. isn t there a distinction between the belief that someone has perhaps joined an organization affiliated and someone who actually takes up arms against this country? isn t there a distinction there? the burden of proof and the level of expectation remains the same. it has to be a voluntary decision by the individual. that s what s in the current statute. and the burden of proof is on the department of state to show that this perso
