The City of Crowley was named a district winner in the 2021 Cleanest City Competition held on Tuesday, May 4.
Louisiana Garden Club Federation District VII Cleanest City Chairman Kathy Tell informed Crowley Mayor Tim Monceaux of the win.
Crowley will now compete in the state contest planned for the last two weeks in May against other winning cities throughout Louisiana. Cities are categorized into districts based on population size. This award represents a community who cares about and takes pride in their city, their neighborhoods and where they work and live, said Tell. It brings with it a community spirit that tells the world that your city officials, business leaders and citizens are invested in their hometown.
Effort to Recall Crowley Mayor Monceaux Fails
The City of Crowley has a great reputation for holding its elected officials accountable. I can recall more than a few times the citizens of that Acadia Parish community banded together to readjust the political landscape of the town. However, the most recent attempt to recall an elected official in Crowley has apparently failed.
The Crowley-Post Signal newspaper published an interview with organizers of a recent petition that had sought to remove Crowley Mayor Tim Monceaux from office. In that interview, Kathryn Holmes told the newspaper that the recall effort failed to capture enough signatures to move the process forward. Holmes in her comments did suggest that organizers were very close to getting the number of signatures necessary.

A petition to recall Mayor Tim Monceaux has failed, the Crowley Post-Signal is reporting.
The newspaper interviewed organizers of the petition, who acknowledged that the deadline had passed without the required number of signatures.
âYes, the recall deadline passed. Unfortunately we were not successful, but were extremely close,â Kathryn
Holmes told the newspaper. âWe are very thankful for everyone who did sign the recall and walk neighborhoods collecting signatures and weâre hopeful the next two years of having Tim Monceaux as mayor go by rather quickly.â
