James Munsey is proud that over 4,900 doses of Moderna vaccine have been given at Munsey’s Pharmacy, a small family-owned pharmacy in Oak Ridge. This number is about 10.7% of the 45,898 vaccines given in Anderson County as of April 22.
To try to accommodate the needs of community residents, two Drive-in COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics were conducted at Munsey’s Pharmacy on Feb. 27 and March 27 in Oak Ridge. Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge and Knights from the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus managed the traffic, parking and registration of vaccine recipients.

The first COVID-19 drive-in vaccine clinic at Munsey’s Pharmacy in Oak Ridge was Saturday, Feb. 27.
James Munsey was one of the first 32 privately owned and operated small pharmacies approved in the state of Tennessee to administer COVID-19 vaccines. All recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine must complete and sign the State of Tennessee Application. This data is entered into the state s database after their vaccine dosages are given and they have been observed for 15 minutes to see if any adverse reaction occurs.
The number of doses and type of vaccine, along with the delivery date, are decided by the state after Munsey makes his request for the number of doses needed and has submitted documentation of administration of all the doses previously received.
