On Tuesday, council unanimously approved hiring Bill Myers as police chief following the recommendation from City Manager Lance Willard.
Myers has more than 23 years of experience in law enforcement. He first joined the Columbiana department in 1995 as a part-time officer and was recently promoted to full-time before opting to try for the open position.
“We believe that he is going to be a great part of the team,” Willard said.
Willard said that Myers has supervisory experience, and has worked with all of the city departments over the years.
