Logan J. Criswell A Wayne County man is facing multiple felonies after trying to flee from a traffic stop Wednesday evening. Logan Jarrord Criswell, 32, of Monticello, has been charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Kidnapping (with Serious Physical Injury), first-degree Strangulation, second-degree Assault (Domestic Violence), first-degree Wanton Endangerment (Police Officer), first-degree Wanton Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, first-degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (2 or more grams of methamphetamine), third-degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (first offense, 2-120 dosage units of unspecified drug), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the traffic violation of Excessive Windshield/Window Tinting. Selling alcohol in neighboring Wayne County just cleared a major hurdle with the selection of officials to oversee local operations. Wayne Fiscal Court approved a second reading of the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Ordinance on Monday that sets license fees for establishments selling alcohol and levies a tax on all alcoholic beverages sold in the county. The county ordinance does not allow for Sunday sales or stand-alone bars. However, it does require the hiring of an ABC Administrator to oversee the issuing of licenses and to collect taxes and fees.

Wayne County man arrested on domestic violence charges

Dec 24, 2020 A Monticello man s domestic violence case has been waived to the Wayne County Grand Jury. Tommy R. Frost, 54, was arrested Saturday on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree strangulation. The charges stem from a domestic call which Wayne County deputies Joe Horne and Jerry Meadows responded to on Candi Lane. According to Sheriff Tim Catron, deputies arrived to find Frost standing outside with blood on his hands and clothing. The victim was located sitting inside a vehicle, Sheriff Catron continued, and the investigation revealed she had allegedly been hit numerous times and strangled.
