The US Congress will vote again regarding a bill forcing TikTok to divest or face a potential ban. The US House of Representatives is scheduled to vote once more on Saturday regarding a bill aimed at compelling TikTok to sever ties with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, or else face a nationwide prohibition, according to a report by AFP.
The European Union is set to investigate potential breaches in online content rules by ByteDance's TikTok, according to a recent statement by an EU official. As per the statement, if TikTok is found guilty of breaking rules meant to safeguard children and promote transparent advertising, the popular short-video-sharing platform will be liable to a large fine.
TikTok, the popular short video platform, has recently announced that they are going to enforce stricter content moderation to control misinformation regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. These new steps by TikTok are being taken after a recent demand by the EU.
