1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men in the United States experience some sort of domestic violence in their lifetime, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

A Greenville activist hopes to spur a system change that will help decrease in violence by unifying the community.
This will be the rally cry at the Decrease the Violence by Unifying the Community event set for 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at 424 Birnie St in Greenville.
The rally, sponsored and planned by Tikeeta Wallace, is also a call to restore the public faith and trust in the leadership ability and policy making decisions of Greenville leaders, a flyer said.
One of Wallace s hopes is that community leaders, organizations, and elected officials will work with residents to improve the community.
