New Bedford Pair Charged With Federal Unemployment Fraud
A married man and woman from New Bedford were indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Boston on fraud charges arising from their claims for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance funds.
Tiffany Pacheco, 35, and Arthur Pacheco, 47, were each indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Tiffany Pacheco also faces five counts of wire fraud and Arthur Pacheco two counts. The defendants until recently resided in New Bedford, according to a news release from the Office of U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling. The two were arrested in San Antonio, Texas in December and have been detained ever since.

A Massachusetts woman accused of falsely requesting more than $240,000 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance funds while working for the commonwealth was arrested with her husband in Texas this week, officials said.
Authorities took Tiffany and Arthur Pacheco into custody Friday night in San Antonio, Texas. The pair, who were living in New Bedford until recently, were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and were expected in court in the Western District of Texas on Friday, according to U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling’s office.

BOSTON – A married couple, formerly from New Bedford, was arrested Thursday night in Texas on federal fraud charges arising from their claims for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance funds.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney s Office, Tiffany Pacheco, a/k/a Tiffany Tavery, 35, and Arthur Pacheco, 47, who, until recently, resided in New Bedford, were charged by criminal complaint with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Tiffany Pacheco was also charged with one count of wire fraud. The defendants were arrested in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday night.
According to charging documents, Tiffany was hired by the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance in April 2020, shortly after her release from federal prison following a conviction for aggravated identity theft.
