The Medicine Hat fire department worked to contain a structure fire Sunday morning.
Crews were called to a triplex in the 500 C block of Maple Avenue at around 10:45 Sunday morning.
According to Fire Platoon Chief Lindsay the fire started on the stove and spread to the nearby cabinets.
“The occupant was good enough to knock it down with a small extinguisher, and then when we arrived on scene our guys knocked down the little bit of flame that was left, and proceeded to make sure there was no spread into the attic space,” he said.
All four residents living inside the home and their dog managed to escape safely.

Fourteen-year-old Daniel Bachmeier could hardly contain his excitement when he pulled up in his father’s van to a tree full of gifts on his front porch.
“Hey, who is that on the tree, is that Donkey Kong?” Daniel asked as he excitedly wheeled himself to the tree.
For Daniel, Christmas and his 15th birthday came early thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation.
“It’s wonderful to just bring some joy, bring some happiness in such a gloomy time with COVID-19. It is just a real light in our world right now to be able to grant wishes to children. It’s a very joyous time at Christmas,” said Donna Serr of the Make a Wish Foundation .

Santa Claus came to Herald School Monday afternoon. But instead of having his reindeer in tow, he brought along something else: A holiday alpaca named Hope
Standing outside, a small group of children walked up to the two-year-old Alpaca. Their faces were full of joy as they ran their fingers through her soft coat.
Santa graciously stood by as the kids took turns taking Hope for a walk.
Two-year-old Hope is from White Barn Fun Farm just outside of Brooks. This is her first year filling in for Santa’s reindeer who were resting to prepare for the big day.
