Despite local school districts having a formal book review process in place, parents and trustees alike are going the alternative route through "internal review" processes that are less transparent and lead to more books coming off the shelves and classrooms without notice.
At Tuesday night's board meeting, Conroe ISD board members voted to approve new revisions to their current book review process. These changes give more authority to a single board member and define what the district considers is sexually explicit.
