The widow of a Locust Grove police officer killed in the line of duty is teaming up with a scholarship program to honors the sacrifice of first responders across the country.
LOCUST GROVE â In the spot where Officer Chase Maddox proposed to his wife, Alex, now stands a marker honoring his life and memorializing his five years spent as a member of the Locust Grove Police Department.
The brown sign with white letters âHonoring Our Heroâ was unveiled Tuesday with family, friends and officials from the Henry County, the city of Locust Grove and LGPD, in attendance.
The sign stands across the street from Grace Baptist Church on Tanger Boulevard where Chase Maddox arranged for his wife to be pulled over by a fellow officer years ago. It was there he asked her to be his wife. In the churchâs parking lot Alex called family to announce their engagement. The whole event was captured on Chase Maddoxâs body cam video. Itâs something Alex Maddox said sheâll always treasure.
