Limerick road project will proceed without delay

Mid West Correspondent Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has confirmed that the  Coonagh Knockalisheen road project in Limerick, which will open up the Moyross estate and provide connectivity to the rest of the northside of the city, will go ahead in its entirety, as well as a series of other initiatives to improve transport access to the estate. The road has been the subject of controversy in recent weeks after Mr Ryan had failed to sign off on the final local part of the project, and told community groups in January he wanted to change the plan to include a light rail project.

Anger has especially grown in Moyross over the past week, after Transport Minister Eamon Ryan met with stakeholders and community representatives to discuss the €58m project leaving them with the belief it may be not be progressed as was previously envisaged. Now, this Monday morning, Mr Leddin says the minister is committed to signing off on the section of the proposed road between Coonagh and Moyross – but not the final piece connecting the northside estate to Knockalisheen.

Forever 11, an eight-foot by eight foot mural, depicts a smiling painting of well-loved Ballynanty boy Brooklyn Colbert, who was aged just 11. Designed by artists Lukasz Milawski and Joe Kennedy, it was unveiled as part of a winter wonderland event in Delmege Park, Moyross which was organised by community activist Jamie Daly and his family.
