Codiac RCMP will be taking a new approach when it comes to anti-mask rallies in downtown Moncton.
While the focus has been on education, Superintendent Tom Critchlow told Moncton City Council we are now in the Red Phase of pandemic recovery and individuals could be ticketed for violating public health guidelines.
“We will work individually in issuing tickets contrary to the provincial Emergency Measures Act. We will take those steps while respecting people’s rights,” he notes.
Councillor Paulette Theriault has not been impressed by the demonstrations and applauds the new strategy.
She noted how more than two million people have died related to COVID-19 and she said it’s beyond her comprehension that anyone wouldn’t be concerned.
