COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite the shut down of the Tibbits Opera House for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was reported during the Tibbits Opera Foundation and Arts Council annual meeting on Thursday night the organizationâs financial position remains strong.
The annual meeting was a combined virtual and in-person event at the Opera House where proper COVID-19 protocols were in place.
Board treasurer Wayne Weaver reported that through increased fundraising and a concerted effort to cut expenses, they ended 2019-2020 with a $78,000 profit. In addition to the donations that replaced lost ticket revenue, Tibbits received a federal PPP loan and several emergency grants.
