TRACKING THE COVID-19 VACCINE Share Updated: 10:51 AM CST Feb 19, 2021 A new festival will light up the grounds of Blank Park Zoo in the spring.Blank Park Zoo announced during a news conference Friday that its Wild Lights Festival will feature 35 massive handmade animal-shaped Asian lanterns.“This amazing festival is designed to wow you, and it’s unlike anything that has been in Iowa before,” Blank Park Zoo President and CEO Anne Shimerdia said in a news release. “Incredibly talented artisans design and fabricate lighted displays that incorporate Asian themes into a festival of light and culture.The festival, scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 1 to May 31, will implement a face-covering requirement and limited attendance.S

(Des Moines, IA) A new night-time-festival is coming to Des Moines. The Blank Park Zoo is planning the Wild Lights Festival April 1st. It ll feature 35-large, illuminated animal shaped Asian lanterns.
“This amazing festival is designed to wow you and it’s unlike anything that has been in Iowa before,” said Anne Shimerdla, president and CEO of Blank Park Zoo.
“Incredibly talented artisans design and fabricate lighted displays that incorporate Asian themes into a festival of light and culture.”
Due to the pandemic, nightly attendance will be limited and face coverings will be required.
Blank Park Zoo is presenting this festival in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture. It s sponsored by MidAmerican Energy.
