About 50 ballet dancers of the National Ballet of China will perform on May 7 and 8 at Tianqiao Theater, featuring programs of classic ballet productions by the company, such as
The Red Detachment of Women,
Swan Lake,
Chasing Dreams, which was initiated by the company s president Feng Ying in 2012.
Besides offering young ballet dancers a platform to display themselves, the shows also aim to train and inspire the dancers.
Many young dancers grew up displaying their talent at the annual public assessment, such as ballerinas Qiu Yunting and Xu Yan, who will perform Qiong Hua, the leading role in original Chinese ballet production,

The National Ballet of China, the country s top ballet troupe, is set to host a workshop at Beijing s Tianqiao Theater on April 29-30. The troupe will perform seven short scenes from its original ballet creations at the workshop.
According to the troupe, the workshop, directed by young dance choreographer Wang Sizheng, will include dance works from young artists such as Lovesickness, Beethoven, Before the Dawn and Dream of Butterfly.
The workshop is an annual program that aims to offer opportunities to young ballet talents, said Feng Ying, the troupe s director. Since its debut in 2010, the program has helped dozens of young talents and produced a number of outstanding works.

The National Ballet of China premiered its latest production, Yimeng, on Saturday at the Tianqiao Theater in Beijing to celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China in 2021.
The work, which is based on the company s classic piece, Ode to the Yimeng Mountain, tells stories with scenes adapted from real events, with such titles as Bridge Under Fire, The Virgin Bride and Passions of Yimeng.
Classic songs composed by Liu Tingyu, such as the folk ballad, Yimeng Tune, which depicts China s beautiful natural scenery, were performed by the company s symphony orchestra under the baton of conductor Huang Yi.
