HAYWARD TOWNSHIP, Minn. – A local resident has been hired to help promote a proposed 2,000 acre solar energy project in Freeborn County.
Arevon Energy Management (AEM) and Tenaska are developing the 150-megawatt project in Hayward Township. Pending state approval, construction would start in 2022 and the facility would begin producing energy in 2023. Hayward Township resident Tracy Skaar has now been named the project’s local representative.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be part of this project and I truly believe it will provide long-term benefits to our area,” says Skaar. “I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with people at my weekly office hours and around the community.”
Arevon Energy Management (AEM) and Tenaska are developing a second solar project in Gibson County that would bring significant economic benefits through jobs, contractor opportunities, and tax revenue, among other things. The 280-megawatt (MW) Gibson Solar Project, near Princeton, represents a roughly $250 million investment in the local economy. The project is owned by Capital Dynamics, an independent global asset management firm.
This is the second solar project that AEM and Tenaska are developing in Gibson County. The 200-MW Elliott Solar Project, near Francisco, was announced in 2020. That project is a $170 million investment in Gibson County.
“Our team has felt welcome in Gibson County, and there is a lot of support from landowners – roughly 55 families across both projects,” said Tiago Sabino Dias, president and CEO of AEM. “We appreciate the leadership that the county has provided in ensuring the community benefits from the Gibson and Elliott solar projects.”

Capital Dynamics CEI, the Clean Energy Infrastructure business line of Capital Dynamics, an independent global private asset management firm, and Hoosier Energy, a generation and transmission cooperative, today announced the signing of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.
Under the terms of the PPA, Hoosier Energy will purchase 150-megawatts (MW) of the power generated by the Ratts 2 Solar Project, a CEI-owned greenfield solar project that is currently being developed in Knox County, Indiana. Arevon Energy Management and Tenaska are co-developing this project and were instrumental in procuring and negotiating the terms of the PPA. Construction is expected to begin in 2022 with commercial operation anticipated in 2023.
