El Mieloma Múltiple (MM) representa el 10% de las neoplasias hematológicas malignas y el 1% de las neoplasias. La edad media en el momento del diagnóstico es de 65 años y menos del 15% de los casos se dan por debajo de los 50 años.
Los expertos lo definen como un cáncer incurable que se genera por la proliferación desmedida de células plasmáticas en la médula ósea que desplazan a las células normales productoras de sangre.
