This last year was filled with obstacles for many businesses, some of which had to close their doors for good due to COVID-19. Organizations like the Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) have dedicated a wide range effort assisting businesses so that they can continue to do business here in Thurston County.
Recently, the Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) and Thurston Strong launched and awarded the Thurston Strong Target Zone Startup Grant to 10 promising entrepreneurs looking to open new businesses in the area. Each startup received $100,000, creating a $1 million impact in our small business community to help our newest entrepreneurs build and grow.
With the arrival of COVID-19 to Thurston County, health and safety became an immediate public concern, but on the heels of rapid changes concerning safety were nearly simultaneous economic impacts. An equally rapid response followed, with residents, organizations, and government alike rallying around small businesses, and at the center of that support has been the Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC).
