CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau says they’ve seen noticeable increases in visitation and hotel occupancy over the last month.
Communications Director Chris Campbell says they’ve seen increases in tourism specifically over the last few weekends, getting closer to pre-pandemic numbers.
Monday through Thursday Campbell says hotel bookings are about 12.5% lower than this time in 2019. However, for weekends, he says those booking numbers are only down 3% from around this time of year in 2019.
On Wednesday, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce is hosting a virtual job fair for Charleston and North Charleston Marriott hotels and the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel.
