Son of a doctor, he designed a mask with a mic and a speaker attached after he observed his parents struggling to communicate with their patients.

Thrissur student designs masks with mics to ease communication amid COVID ANI | Updated: May 23, 2021 22:14 IST Thrissur (Kerala) [India], May 23 (ANI): As wearing a mask to combat COVID-19 has proven to be a difficult task when it comes to communicating with others, a first-year B Tech student - Kevin Jacob from Thrissur Government Engineering College has come up with an innovative solution by designing a mask with a mic and a speaker attached. Speaking to ANI, Jacob, the son of two doctors, said that he came up with the idea after he saw his parents facing difficulties while interacting with their patients.

Industry-university chair for electrical research

Initiative with top tech institutions will help KEL develop new market-oriented products The public sector Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company (KEL) has joined hands with the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, Trivandrum Engineering Science and Technology Research Park, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Thrissur Government Engineering College, and a host of other institutions to set up an industry-university chair for electrical research. The chair, set up at the behest of the State government, will address the lack of facilities for research and development in public sector undertakings in the State, says KEL Managing Director Shaji Varghese.
