The black car reportedly attempted to merge into the west traffic lane, but failed to see the red car already traveling in the lane. The front left of the black car collided with the front right side of the other car, FHP reported.
The black car stopped in the west traffic lane facing west, and the red car came to a rest in front of the other vehicle. According to FHP, the driver of the black car, a 48-year-old woman from Elba, Alabama, suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the black car was not injured.
The driver of the red car, a 23-year-old woman from Daleville, Alabama, also suffered minor injuries. According to FHP, the red car was carrying four passengers.
A car was traveling eastbound on SR 20 near Dolphin Cove in Walton County about 5:55 p.m. when the driver, a 37-year-old man, lost control and traveled onto the south shoulder, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The car struck a tree and rolled several times before coming to a rest facing southeast on the south shoulder of the roadway. Two passengers, a 45-year-old man and a 63-year-old man, were ejected from the vehicle, FHP reported.
All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
