COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho Schools can become a one-stop shop for some families, becoming a place parents can get the COVID shot when dropping off their kids.
The Coeur d’Alene School District and Panhandle Health District are trying to make it as easy as possible for students and families to get vaccinated. On Wednesday, some students at Lake City High School stopped by the school gym, not for P.E., but for a COVID vaccine.
That’s what senior Jacob Hutchinson did today.
“I’ve been planning on getting it for a while, but I couldn’t get in with my busy schedule,” Hutchinson said.

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. Idaho is fully open as the state moves to its final stage of Governor Little’s Stay Healthy reopening plan. This means instead of caps on gathering sizes like in other stages, there is no limit on the amount of people. However, people need to be socially distance from each other.
The step to Stage 4 has one restaurant in Liberty Lake a little concerned for a few reasons.
“We are a little bit concerned about that because you know, you get the large gatherings over there, plus the employees go over there because there’s more jobs available,” said Kyle Barbieri, manager at True Legends Grill. “The top concern is going back a level and then losing our indoor seating and having to come out here because in the summer it gets hot, people want to be indoors.”

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho Last month, the Coeur d’Alene School Board voted to lift the mask mandate and not require students to wear a mask while in class, but two and a half weeks later, the mandate has returned.
Since the mandate was lifted, there have been 30 confirmed COVID cases in the district and 416 students have had to quarantine, which is why school leaders decided to bring the mandate back.
“This is a temporary return to the masks being required, and the intent of this is to prevent additional in-school spread of this virus,” said Scott Maben, the Director of Communications for Coeur d’Alene schools.
