Raiders win wild season finale against Broncos in overtime - Prince Albert Daily Herald

Prince Albert Daily Herald Moe, Nachbaur and Paddock wrap up WHL careers The strangest season in Prince Albert Raiders history concluded on Wednesday night with one of the most bizarre contests the team has ever taken part in. With the team holding a 5-3 lead over the Swift Current Broncos at the 8:01 mark of the third period, Raiders netminder Max Paddock was given a snow shower by Broncos forward Josh Davies and proceeded to pummel him in the face as both players were down in the crease during a post-whistle scrum. As a result of the play, Davies was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, but Paddock was given a five-minute match penalty and a game misconduct for what the officials deemed as an attempt to injure.

The Prince Albert Raiders found out firsthand why the Winnipeg Ice have one of the best offences in the Western Hockey League during the shortened 2020-21 campaign. In the penultimate game for both sides in the East Division hub at the Brandt Centre, the Raiders saw a 3-1 third period lead with 11 minutes to go disappear as the Ice scored a trifecta of goals in a nearly six-minute stretch on their way to a 4-3 triumph.

Four-goal second period powers Raiders past Pats - Prince Albert Daily Herald

Four-goal second period powers Raiders past Pats Photo Courtesy of Keith Hershmiller/WHL Prince Albert Raiders forward Justin Nachbaur, left, turns around to see his deflected shot in the back of the Regina Pats net on Tuesday night at the Brandt Centre. Once the Prince Albert Raiders offence got rolling on Tuesday night, it was hard for the Regina Pats to slow them down. The Raiders scored four times in nearly five-and-a-half minutes during the second period of play as they would go on to pick up a 4-2 victory over the Pats at the Brandt Centre. “I thought that was one of our best team games so far here,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “We’ve lost a key defenceman with Nolan Allan leaving (for the World Under-18’s) and I thought our young guys did a good job of stepping up on the blueline and moving the puck up the ice.”
