Janet Yellen, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, is mistaken in her belief that short-term economic drawbacks are the most important consideration for the United States in pursuing a "decoupling" policy with China. In fact, the political repercussions of decoupling must take priority. The CCP's communist ideology is the biggest threat to democratic freedom in the world today, and as long as the CCP is in power, China will be aggressively infiltrating the free world, with the U.S. as its number one target. Degrading the power of the CCP, which increases in direct proportion to the wealth China generates from trade with the United States, should be our primary objective.
