A mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, says she has had to “scramble around” for help from family members where other clubs are either full or hard to get to and be at work on time. The first roads and pavements set to benefit from increased investment into Southend highways have been announced. Resurfacing will take place on 30 roads and 31 pavements as part of the council’s £5million programme to make improvements in the area.
Here are all the roads set to be resurfaced:
Eastwood Road North: From A127 to aproximately number 40 Eastwood Road North
Elmsleigh Drive: From Eastwood Road North to 186 Elmsleigh Drive
Elmsleigh Drive: From Manchester Drive to No. 146 Elmsleigh Drive
London Road: Lindisfarne Avenue to Chalkwell Park
Lansdowne Avenue: Entire Road
Southchurch Road: From Tesco Petrol Station to number 501 Southchurch Road
Southchurch Road: From Junction Southchurch Avenue to Car Garage (number 329 to 337)
Parents are overjoyed that pupils will return to the classroom in just under two weeks after months of home learning. But union bosses have raised concerns that the government hasn’t adopted a phased approach of bringing children back to school. On March 8, all school children will ditch online learning and go back to face to face teaching. However, Jerry Glazier, secretary for the Essex branch of the National Education Union, has raised concerns there will still be bubbles of infections in schools.
