Police investigate fatal shooting in West St Paul

Updated: 10:08 AM CDT June 10, 2021 WEST ST PAUL, Minn. Homicide investigators are looking for suspects after a man was fatally shot in West St. Paul Wednesday evening. West St. Paul police posted on the department s FB page that squads were dispatched to Thompson County Park at 360 Butler Ave. East just before 9 p.m. on reports of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.  First responders rushed him to Regions Hospital where the man was pronounced dead.  Investigators from West St. Paul are working the case, with help from South St. Paul police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). Police Chief Brian Sturgeon says no suspects are currently in custody, but it appears to be a targeted shooting and police maintain there is no immediate danger to the public.

University of Alaska awards $500,000 public advocacy contract to Milwaukee firm The University of Alaska (UA) has awarded a $500,000 contract to Milwaukee based advertising firm BVK. The contract was in response to an RFP from UA that came out in February. A total of eight firms responded to the RFP, including several Alaska firms. The firms include Denali Daniels & Associates, Strategies 360, Thompson & Co. Public Relations, Brilliant Media Strategies, and Yuit Communications. The other two that responded were Ologie and EMC Research, both based in Ohio. The RFP allows for up to two possible one-year extensions totaling an additional $1 million.

Alaska health department is set to spend more than $3.2 million in federal aid for COVID-19 communications Sean Maguire © Provided by Anchorage KTUU-TV Vaccinations JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services has hired public relations firms to help with COVID-19 communications. Two firms are set to be paid as much as $3.2 million from Alaska’s federal coronavirus relief funding. Blueprint Alaska received a two-month contract for $440,000 in June. Jason Grove, the procurement manager for the state health department, said that contract was approved through “emergency procedures.” The Anchorage-based public relations firm was hired to help “the department’s ongoing efforts to educate Alaskans on mitigating COVID-19, to keep Alaska residents and visitors healthy and safe as our state reopens and eases restrictions.”
