A VAN driver has been told to cough up more than £3,500 after he flytipped multiple items from the vehicle. Thomas Whitnell, 34, will have to pay £3,515 after he dumped fence panels, posts, and gravel boards outside an industrial unit in Hemmells, Laindon. Mr Whitnell, of High Road, Laindon, will pay a £1,000 fine, £2,415 in court costs, and a £10 victim surcharge following the flytip from almost two years ago. He initially appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court in December last year, and pleaded not guilty of dumping controlled waste. CCTV footage captured the waste being dumped, and visibly showed the numberplate of the van.
