German Olympic officials are considering a bid for the 2034 Winter Games after deciding it’s ‘too late’ to go after the 2030 Winter Games. Salt Lake City is bidding for both Games, but the focus in on 2034. IOC President Thomas Bach decided against awarding both Games at the same time.
German Olympic Sports Federation President Thomas Weikert has
identified the 2034 Winter Olympics and 2036 Summer Games as the
earliest potential targets for the country, and underlined his desire
to bid.
The European Championships in Munich are widely deemed to have been a resounding success. This has led to renewed calls for Germany to bid to host the Olympics.
