Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is planning to ask Premier Doug Ford to immediately cease the interprovincial bridge checkpoints that snarled traffic Monday, tied up dozens of local police officers and left thousands of commuters late for work.
The mayor, who was not consulted on Friday’s surprise bridge announcement, said he hopes to raise the issue with the premier as early as Tuesday.

He also said police chief Peter Sloly has written to the solicitor general asking that local costs be covered by Ontario.
