tonight the lapd has seen multiple arrests in what authorities call a large-scale voter fraud scam. jonathan hunt joins us with the story. reporter: this is a crackdown on voter fraud, the los angeles police department began prior to the midterm elections. investigators discovered homeless people on la and thomas skidrow being paid a dollar for food and cigarettes in exchange for false our forged signature on ballot petitions. in the words of lapd officer dion joseph, quote, they paid individuals to sign their names. that is an assault on our democracy. the signatures most commonly used to get certain propositions on the election talent. it is not clear whether the number of signatures falsely gathered were enough to make a difference in any one proposition making it onto the ballot in the midterms.
