Hillsdale man who fled police set for sentencing Hillsdale Daily News HILLSDALE A Hillsdale man who fled from authorities Dec. 13, 2020, in Hillsdale appeared in the 1st Judicial Circuit Court Monday afternoon for a criminal pretrial conference. Matthew Thomas Shankster, 19, previously pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree flee/elude police and unlawful use of a motor vehicle while on bond but then skipped court for further hearings.  Officers with the Hillsdale City Police Department caught up with Shankster May 7 near Spring Street and Lewis Street when Shankster was acting suspiciously and ran on foot from officers through a number of backyards jumping several fences before being caught.
