Banyana Banyana coach starts Sasol League provincial visits
21 May 2021 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Desiree Ellis will be in Bloemfontein this weekend (22-23 May 2021) in her first provincial visit since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ellis will conduct a workshop to be attended by local Sasol League coaches. She will also stay over to watch two matches as she continues her search for more national team players.
The face-to-face engagement by the head coach will take place at the Free State Sports Science Institutions – the SAFA Free State offices, on Saturday, 22 May 2021, and will be limited to a small number of participants, in line with the SAFA Covid-19 protocols.
Sasol League ready for kickoff
9 April 2021 – The Sasol League season returns this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with several provinces kicking off after a year of inactivity.
However, two provinces will delay their start – and have set a date of later this month, 17th of April and the 30th of April 2021 to resume action.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has received confirmation from clubs that they are ready to get the show on the road.
“I can safely confirm that we have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that everything goes according to plan – but as it goes with events, there will be some glitches, more so now during this period of Covid-19 where a lot has to be done before teams can take to the field,” said Thomas Sadiki, Head of Competitions at SAFA.
