Westmont erupted for 12 runs in the fifth inning and cruised to its first baseball win of the season, an 18-1 rout of University of Saint Katherine on Friday at Russ Carr Field.
Coach Robert Ruiz changed his lineup from Thursday’s loss to Lewis-Clark State, moving John Jensen from the second spot to leadoff and starting Ryan Desaegher at third base. The moves paid huge dividends.
Jensen, a senior transfer from UC Irvine and a former Santa Barbara High and SBCC standout, reached base three times, hit a three-run homer and a run-scoring double and scored twice.
