Tiny village rocked by slaying
SCOTT A shooting near the tiny village of Scott, population 298 in Van Wert County, has left an unnamed juvenile dead and another juvenile charged in that person’s death.
According to a news release from Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach, their office received a 911 call just before 10 a.m. Tuesday about someone being shot at 1339 Scott Road in Union Township. When deputies arrived they located a gunshot victim at the scene who was pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived but was apprehended in the village a short time later.
The suspect is charged with murder, an unclassified felony; attempted murder, a first-degree felony and felonious assault, a felony of the second degree.
