We return to the Mobile County Training School to record parts of the spirit of our ancestors festival. We spoke with organizer joscelyn davis. The spread of our ancestor festival is a day set aside to commemorate the descendants of the clotilda. There are festivals that started back in the eighties from the original founders of the descendants association, and i guess it stopped for a while, so i decided to start it up again. I was reading doctor natalie robertsons book, the slave ship clotilda, and the makings of africatown, thats how i came up with the title. I was looking for a title but a lot of things werent ringing a bell, but when i read her book i said, all, while spirit of our ancestors just jumped at me. You greeted everyone, and then there is a point when you had descendants speak. How did you come up with your program . Well, growing up here in africatown and attending Union Missionary baptist church, there was a bus of cudjo lewis in front of our church all my life. Back
Comments on this item . I do, actually. So again, my name is erica and im the coordinate of c pack. I want to speak on behalf of the c pack on behalf of the sandys recommendation. Sandy is being considered under the discretionary category and have the executive director of one of San Franciscos resource and refer process is critical. She makes informed decisions and served excuse me, children counsel serves families across all districts and not just district 7, but all across the country. She brings a voice that serves families across the city. Shes a leader and one of our most active leader. She mentioned being the chair of our childrens fun and piece Ad Hoc Committee that worked for month and months recommending recommendations and advocating for those priorities. In addition, due to a change in our previous chair schedule, she also chairs our budget and legislative committee. To be honest, i have no idea in addition to being the council, shes more of the most active members. On beha
For over 30 years and so its these seats are knowing what c pack does is crucial to continuing to look at what the needs are in the Early Education for zero to five. Its one of those its being to get recognition and beginning to for people to understand the importance of it, but theres still in many ways, that field has gone beyond the infant stage, but theyre pretty much in the toddler stage when its compared with other type of services that are crucial to our residents in San Francisco. And to have rosalind step up at this point is crucial. To have that parent voice in there, a lot of times when we make decisions, we forget what parents really want and what maria torres who was in that role before, it was heard in what parents want and i think rosalind can fill her shoes for that. With sandy, since this would be a seat that im appointing to, i would be very, very fussy about and critical of who i would like to see represent my seat on cpack and for somebody like sandy who is so well
