As we head into the long nights of the winter season, there is an exhibition at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre that seems singularly appropriate for this time of year. Titled “Nocturne” and running until early April 2021, the show explores how Canadian artists have given expression to themes relating to the night from dusk until dawn with works by both historical and contemporary artists. It is both a contemplative and thought-provoking exhibition, ranging through 150 years of artistic style from realistic landscape paintings to abstract expressionism to contemporary photography.
