December 19, 2020 Quentin Mzumara - Nyasa Times 34 Comments Bishop Martin Mtumbuka  of the influential Catholic Church has appealed to President Lazarus Chakwera to be decisive in his administration to root out corruption in the country. Bishop Mtumbuka: Tips Chakwera Mtumbuka made the appeal on Saturday at Civo Stadium in his homily during a requiem mass for the late Archbishop Tarcizio Ziyaye of Lilongwe Archdiocese. Ziyaye died of cancer in Namibia at the age of 71. Church authorities disclosed on Saturday. Mtumbuka said President Chakwera should avoid politics of appeasement and protecting wrong doers. “The lesson from the life of Archbishop Ziyaye to you Mr. President is to have decisive leadership which does not protect wrong-doers because they come from same region or party with you,” said Mtumbuka.

Bishop Msusa praises Catholic faithful for resilience

December 15, 2020 Arnold Namanja- Mana 1 Comment Bishop of the Archdiocese of Blantyre, Thomas Luke Msusa has commended members of the Catholic Church in the diocese for demonstrating resilience amidst Covid-19 pandemic. Archbishop Thomas Msusa presided over the ordination mass-Photo Arkangel Tembo, Mana He made the observation on Saturday at St. Montfort Catholic Institute (CI) Parish during the ordination of five deacons to priesthood which coincided with Silver Jubilee celebrations of three priests in Blantyre. The five ordained as priests are; Fr. Augustine Chochoma, Fr. Vincent Matewere, Fr. Richard Chikumbu, Fr. Francisco Malata and Fr. Cyril Nkhoswe while those who celebrated Silver Jubilee were Fr. Peter Phiri, Fr. Ignatius Gazani and Fr. Charles Manyenje.
