The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette won the award for general excellence among the state’s larger daily newspapers at the Arkansas Press Association’s annual convention in Little Rock on Saturday. The newspaper earned 15 first-place citations.
I can hear the names echoing through my neighborhood. I live about a mile north of War Memorial Stadium and listened to the Little Rock School District high school graduation ceremonies reverberate.
Two Democrat-Gazette staff members picked up individual awards. Columnist Philip Martin won the Entertainment Feature with “Jerry Lee Lewis” and photographer Thomas Metthe won General News Photography with “Davis Trial.”
