Democrats move forward with legislative maps while looking to push 2022 primary election to June

Illinois Democrats on Friday began advancing maps aimed at maintaining their control of the legislature and state Supreme Court, while also putting the brakes on new congressional maps and looking to put off next year’s March primary until June. The Senate voted 41-18 along party lines to send to the House a Democrat-drawn map setting the boundaries of the state’s 118 House and 59 Senate .
