My Dorset Days
We have a lot of animals and our farm is on a hill so we really don t need to go to the gym to keep fit and there s no need for a personal trainer to bark commands at us - they all make their demands pretty clear. Once they ve had breakfast the dogs leave no doubt that they d like a walk. The horses will bang their stable doors until they ve had their morning feed, then the chickens will cluck at us for mash and a bit of last nights spaghetti if they re lucky and even the cats will throw in a meow for that weird stuff that they eat.
SCHOOLCHILDREN in Dorchester are to get free laptops thanks to a generous donation. The Ashley, Churchill and Thorner Educational Trust (ACTET) is donating a total of £22,500 to schools in Dorchester to help them buy children new and refurbished laptops. While schools are closed, children are having to do their schooling from home and access to a computer and the internet can be crucial to ensuring pupils are able to get a good quality education. ACTET Trustee and North Dorchester Councillor, Andy Canning, said: “It is really important in these difficult times that we help children with the problems they face in the Covid crisis. It is one small way that a group of volunteers can help.”
