Authorities Wednesday identified Thomas Gillis, a 42-year-old Boston man, as the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 93 early Tuesday.
The crash was reported around 4:25 a.m. on I-93 southbound near Exit 6 in Braintree. Gillis was found dead at the scene, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.
The Boston man had entered the highway when he was hit near the second and third lanes. The vehicle that hit him didn’t stop but instead sped away, state police said.
State police troopers said Tuesday they were working to get a possible description of the vehicle and investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash, including why Gillis was walking on the highway, according to authorities.
