The crash was reported around 4:25 a.m. on I-93 southbound near Exit 6 in Braintree. Gillis was found dead at the scene, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police. The Boston man had entered the highway when he was hit near the second and third lanes. The vehicle that hit him didn’t stop but instead sped away, state police said.
