York, ME police: Missing woman found dead on wooded trail

YORK, Maine  A woman who was reported missing Tuesday evening after she went for a walk with a dog, was later found dead along a wooded walking trail, according to the York Police Department. York police Detective Sgt. Thomas Cryan said police have no reason to suspect foul play, nor is there any reason for safety concerns in the community. Police had asked the public for help to locate 66-year-old Deborah Kolbjornsen, after she did not return from her walk when expected, prompting a missing person report about 6:15 p.m. She was a retired teacher from the Oyster River Cooperative School District in New Hampshire.

Ice cream fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Maine Portsmouth Herald YORK On Saturday, June 19, the York Police Department and the York River Landing will host a fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Maine and their athletes. Officers and staff will be serving ice cream to the public at the York River Landing Ice Cream stand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from sales and donations received go directly to Special Olympics Maine and their athletes.  Special Olympics Maine is a nonprofit organization that coordinates year-round training and competitive programs for adults and children with intellectual or physical limitations. A rain date has been set as June 20, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

York ME police log: 1 arrest, 7 motor vehicle accidents, 2 scams

Portsmouth Herald YORK, Maine Local police made one arrest last week and responded to a wide variety of calls, including six reports of suspicious activity, seven motor vehicle accidents involving property damage, two reports of a scam and one report of identity theft, according to a weekly incident log released Monday by the York Police Department. The following information was included in the YPD weekly incident log for Monday, May 17, through Sunday, May 23: A 39-year-old resident of Lowell, Massachusetts, was arrested for assault, and a 56-year-old York resident was summonsed for assault May 17 about 2:40 p.m. on Woodbridge Road. After a fight broke out in a parking lot of the building where those charged were staying, one victim was sent to the hospital for minor injuries inflicted by the perpetrators, according to YPD Detective Sgt. Thomas Cryan, who added that the 39-year-old was arrested for leaving the scene before officers arrived.

The arrest was for operating under the influence. The following information was included in the YPD weekly incident log for Monday, April 26, through Sunday, May 2: A motor vehicle collision was reported April 26 about 2:35 p.m. near the beach bath house on Long Beach Avenue. A motor vehicle accident involving property damage was reported April 26 about 3:05 p.m. near Cider Hill Road and U.S. Route 1.
