THIS year s Old Town Festival has been cancelled. Organisers say it would be impossible to hold the event around its usual time in June while strict coronavirus safety guidelines are still in place. Chair Thomas Craigie announced that the festival s organising committee had received several emails from people asking about whether or not the event would still go ahead. He explained that the government s current timeline of restrictions which aim to prevent the disease spreading further will not allow an event of this large size to take place around the Town Gardens and Wood Street area in 2021. The festival was cancelled in 2020 and usually attracts more than 15,000 people.
