The Morton Theatre will once again host live performances on its historic stage, albeit virtually.
The Morton plans to present Double Consciousness Saturday at 8 p.m., the first full Morton Theatre Corporation production since January of last year. The show puts a creative twist on the sociological construct coined by W. E. B. Du Bois, defined as the struggle African Americans face to remain true to Black culture while at the same time conforming to the dominant white society.
This duality will be portrayed through a poet s dialogue and a comedian s jokes.
Morton Theatre Corporation chair of programming Thomas Brazzle said Adán Bean and David Perdue, the show s stars, are well-equipped to captivate an audience.
