Revival Smoked Meats leaving Keg and Case and heading to Minneapolis Owners Nick Rancone and Thomas Boemer are moving the latest concept to their former Corner Table location.  April 30, 2021 10:02am Text size Copy shortlink: When Keg and Case reopens on May 1, it will be without Revival Smoked Meats. The counter-service offshoot of the popular Revival is moving to Minneapolis. It s taking over the former home of Corner Table (4537 S. Nicollet Av.), which was operated by owners Nick Rancone and Thomas Boemer. The space has been empty since the duo closed the restaurant in 2019. Rancone said that the menu will continue to feature the barbecue sandwiches and sides that made Revival Smoked Meats such a draw at Keg and Case.

Now, on a smaller scale but a big deal to downtown doughnut lovers Angel Food Bakery chef/owner Katy Gerdes announced on Instagram that she s giving up her bakery s home at 9th and Marquette. With the continuing blows about offices and business not coming back any time soon, I have exhausted all my options for the business surviving in the downtown area, she wrote. I adore Minneapolis and cannot wait to see it shine again, but, unfortunately, after just shy of nine years it is time for us to say goodbye to downtown.

Again and again, places that surprised and delighted us, that entertained and nourished us, served their last meals. Here are 94 of them nearly three times the number of closings we wrote about in 2019.
